Las Vegas Sands to control 60% of the casino business

The American company wants to multiply by four its lucrative participation in the Chinese market, until controlling 60% in the next three years. In order to do it President Sheldon Adelson wants to build a new residential and business complex with 20,000 rooms and 30,000 apartments.

The American group hopes to open the second casino next year, and it will have 3,000 rooms. There is also some information about them already having a third hotel complex in the island of Henggin.

Adelson explains that the initial investment will be of a couple million euros, but it could get close to 10,000 million. “It will be the Chinese Riviera”, he says. The works to make all this possible could begin by the end of the year, if the approval stage in Pekin is passed, and it would open in 2009.

The first casino of Las Vegas Sands in Macao started to work in 2004, two years after the chance game business was liberated in the former Portuguese colony. They already get 60% of their annual income from there.
