There are lots of casino and slots parlors in Peru, but most of them are not regulated by the state. The Gambling and Slots Commission informs that only 36 companies are authorized, 625 work under patronage actions and 317 are openly illegal. Meaning that 96% of them do not comply with the current law.
According to the National Operators and Investors for Machine Slots (Anoimt), a single slot represents a gross income of $8. However, the National Society of Gambling (Sonaja) considers that the estimated amount is about $12 per slot. If these numbers are multiplied by 57 thousand slot machines, you can conclude that slots generate more than $683K per day. 96% of these earnings are kept by the illegal slot machines parlors.
There are 243 companies authorized or patronized to administrate gaming parlors, but only 42% of them regularly pays the declared taxes. The rest of them do not pay anything at all or pay less than the real amount or do not declare or pay because they have obtained special favors from corrupt politicians.
The estimated debt on slots and casino taxes reaches $57 million.
