Representatives investigate soccer bets through casinos

The Representatives Chamber is going to investigate the way that several gambling centers operate and also the bookers, where the games of the national soccer championship and its results are being used and there might exist a conflict of interests.

Therefore, the Representatives from the Democratic Revolution (PDR) and Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) parties are going to ask the Secretary of the Government (Segob) a “radiography” of said gambling centers, its benefits and the amounts they collect.

Also, the way these companies operate allows the possibility of gambling over the phone by betting on the results of the sport event.

Representative Camerino Márquez, from the PRD, has informed that this week an agreement will be presented where the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJN) is requested to emit its resolution about the Normative on Games and Draws issued by the Segob and under which 200 casinos, bookers and gambling centers are operating along the country.

The titular of the Segob, Carlos Abascal Carranza, is also going to be asked to present a report to the Representatives Chamber on the permission given during the current six-year period, where racetracks, dogtracks and drawing rooms are also included.
