It appears that the smoking ban will be massively violated in hotel and leisure places that have more than 100 square meters from September 1st, date in which these places will have to install closed zones for smokers.

The entity in charge of the smoking control, which is formed by doctors and scientific societies, assured that the violation could be stopped if the prohibition was to smoke in those places, an option that is defined as the most healthy and cheap. The entity wants the citizens themselves to require their right to breath non-contaminated air.

Meanwhile, the Health Advisor of the Generalitat, Marina Geli, said that “the laws have to be obeyed” and that the places with more than 100 square meters that have not made the arrangements to separate the spaces for smokers and non smokers, will not have authorization to smoke at all, “Because they have had enough time to do the arrangements”.

Geli pointed out that the fact that, in a future, the prohibition will be total is not an excuse not to do the changes, pointing out that these places knew a year ago what they had to do and that the law will be enforced.
